Alan is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER" with over two decades in the Financial Services Industry. Clients choose to work with Alan because he is a caring and dedicated professional who builds long-term relationships based on trust.
As a CFP® Practitioner, Alan has met the rigorous experience and ethical requirements of the CFP Board. He has also completed financial planning coursework and the CFP® Certification Examination covering the following areas: the financial planning process, risk management, investments, tax planning and management, retirement and employee benefits, and estate planning.
As a child, Alan witnessed firsthand the devastation the loss of a spouse can have to a family. Alan’s mother struggled to transfer ownership of Melanson Tractor Service, a second-generation multifamily construction company. The estate went through a lengthy probate process with no proper exit strategy in place. To help support his family, Alan held a paper route, worked as a greeting card salesman, and helped his neighbors with yard work.
Early on, Alan learned the value of people’s time and hard work providing for their families. That is why Alan invests all the time necessary in his clients to help them identify their core values and align them with their goals. The real benefit is the clarity, confidence, and certainty his clients feel knowing Alan is passionate about achieving their objectives.
Alan is a Financial Planners Association® (FPA®) member, the principal membership organization for independent advisors. Through the FPA, Alan provides Pro-Bono financial planning for our military personnel, Dana Farber Cancer Institute patients, and their families. Alan is also an active Masonic Fraternity.
When not assisting clients, Alan volunteers his time for various Cape Cod non-profits, including the Guild of Harwich Artists, the Harwich Chamber of Commerce, and the Masonic Angel Foundation.
An accomplished sandcastle engineer and exceptional mediocre golfer, during his downtime, Alan can be found enjoying the natural beauty of Cape Cod with his wife Valerie, son Jack, and two rescue dogs, Bear and Remmi.
Special Note From Alan to You
“I don’t think retirement planning is a one-size-fits-all approach. It’s very particular to who you are, what you want, & what you want your retirement to mean to you. Everyone’s 3D LifeMap is different & specialized to your needs.
I want to know your hopes and what your perfect retirement looks like. I work as your financial planning partner and wealth evangelist, helping you create a force for good with your finances.”
